The North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) allows students studying agriculture to apply theory and learning to a real-world dairy while working as part of a team. The NAIDC is a unique two-day competition among teams of four representing North American universities' Agriculture Management programs. The competition challenges those institutions to inspire their students with a high quality education - empowering them with the resources for real-world success. This challenge incorporates all facets of a working dairy business in a forum that's interactive, educational and fun. The NAIDC is the competition for tomorrow's dairy leaders. The NAIDC comprises a Regional Competition (which takes place in October/November) and a National Competition (which takes place in April).

The Macdonald Dairy Challenge Club will act as a platform to support the students that will compete in the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge. It will include the four students that will annually be selected by the Farm Management and Technology department to compete in the challenge and those who wish to support the team and acquire further expertise concerning the dairy industry by participating in the preparatory meetings that will take place to prepare the team for the competition. The Macdonald Dairy Challenge Club will also aim to financially support the team’s participation in the NAIDC through fundraising initiatives.

The club will also prepare a seminar that will be given following the team’s participation in the NAIDC. The seminar will relay what has been learned about the North-American dairy industry through the team’s participation in the NAIDC, as well as provide a forum that will bring together students who are actively involved in the dairy industry and the wider Macdonald student body to discuss the state of the North American dairy industry and the challenges it faces.
